Appointment of new trustees to HI board

We are delighted to welcome two new trustees to the Haemochromatosis International Board appointed at the Annual General Meeting on December 8th 2022.

Dr Melissa Yssel, MBChB, FCPath(SA), PGDip OccMed&Health, MPharMed, MBA, FRCPA
Melissa graduated with a Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pretoria South Africa  and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and a Fellow of the College of Pathologists of South Africa. In addition to her clinical qualifications she has an MBA from Henley Business School.
Melissa brings her professional experience as a pathologist with an interest in endocrinology, knowledge of health systems in South Africa and her adopted New Zealand, and her own personal experience as someone with haemochromatosis.
Prior to moving to New Zealand Melissa  was involved with the South African society. 
Paul Johnston, CFA, PMP, MBA
Paul is a CFA charterholder and Project Management Professional (PMP) with an MBA in finance from the University of British Columbia. He served as Treasurer for the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society from 2016 to 2019 and President from 2019 to 2021. During this time he established a multi year strategic plan and prioritized membership development and chapter development as two key strategic initiatives. He led a VoC research project and performed k-means squared cluster analysis to better understand clients’ needs and ensure connectivity with the operating plan. He also created a membership development and a chapter development committee, which were successful at doubling membership and introducing five new chapters in under one year.
