Miriam Forde, Ireland

Miriam Forde is the Executive Director of the Irish Haemochromatosis Association, established 22 years ago to raise awareness of haemochromatosis, the most common genetic disorder in Ireland. Miriam’s responsibility is to manage, along with the voluntary Board of Directors, the strategic direction of the Irish Haemochromatosis Association, devise and implement campaigns to increase awareness of haemochromatosis and develop high-level partnerships with health and health promotion organisations and corporate partners. Miriam is a Trustee of Haemochromatosis International and is a Board Member of EFAPH (European Federation of Associations of Patients with Haemochromatosis).
Miriam has an extensive commercial and non-profit management background and has held senior executive roles with national and international charities in the medical, health and international development sectors in Ireland and the UK. Miriam also led the charitable foundation of Cork University Hospital (CUH) which serves over 1.5 million people in Munster. As Head of CUH Charity, Miriam and her team provided world-class patient care through donations and private philanthropy to deliver a wide range of life-changing and life-saving equipment, facilities and services. Miriam most recently completed a Post-graduate Diploma in Leadership with the Irish Management Institute and University College Cork.
