Brenda Ohara, Canada

Since Brenda started working with the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society in 2008, she has filled many roles, initially supporting people with hemochromatosis by responding to their questions and providing information. She then took on a Communications role, writing and editing newsletters and other informational materials, creating content for the new website, and grant writing. Over the years Brenda has managed all the administration for the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society, including staff and volunteers, donations, and the delivery of its programs. Now with more staff on board, Brenda manages Member Support and Administration.

In 2019, Liz Charyna, another talented and accomplished woman, was hired to take on  the role of Manager of Programs and People. Liz is taking the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society’s Outreach and Awareness program to new heights, driving across the vast country of Canada in 2022 in a grass roots effort to raise awareness of hereditary hemochromatosis.
